About Galerie Y

Galerie Y began as a quiet dream — one that lived in my heart long before it found its place in the world. It was nurtured by friendships, by long conversations about art and possibility, and by a sincere desire to create a space where artists could be supported, encouraged, and truly seen.

The idea of opening a business once felt impossible — something too bold to even put into words. Yet in time, that impossibility became reality.

Galerie Y officially opened its doors on March 11, 1993. It quickly became one of the pioneering art galleries in the Philippines and an important part of the first generation that established the well-known art walk at SM Megamall. For over three decades, the gallery proudly showcased both established masters and emerging talents, providing a platform for artistic expression and discovery.

Among the distinguished artists featured were the grUPo and Pintanaw artists, Melencio Sapnu Jr., Antonio Bandalan, Louie Tolentino, Emmanuel Nim, Caloy Gabuco, Fred Ramirez,  Herzon dela Rosa, Rhea Dela Rosa, Manuel Baldemor, Angelo Baldemor, Monnar Baldemor, Mailah Baldemor-Balde, King Verano, Jonathan Olazo, Lyn-Yusi Olazo Eghai Roxas, Romeo Ballada, myself and many other exceptional creatives who helped shape the gallery’s legacy.

Among them, we remember with gratitude and respect those who have passed and are no longer with us: Araceli Dans, Angel Cacnio, Leonardo Cruz, Ibarra Dela Rosa, Julius Limpe, Rudolf Gonzales, Slim Torres, Hugo Yonzon, Platon Varquez, Gamaliel Subang and Rody Herrera whose artistic legacy continues to inspire.

For 33 meaningful years at SM Megamall, the gallery was my grateful home. In my golden years, I found it more conducive to continue this passion in a quieter and more personal environment closer to my home and studio at Tierra Pura Homes in Quezon City.

Today, we enter a new chapter. While our mall space has closed, our commitment to art remains unwavering. We are now focusing on our online presence and establishing our home as a showroom — an intimate setting where art can be experienced in a more personal and reflective way.

The studio/showroom may be visited by appointment on weekdays from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Our collection is also available online at galeriey.com.
